In the next one to three years, I envision myself traveling throughout the states, impacting the lives of children by coaching, and providing technical guidance to other educational professionals. I also foresee speaking engagements that allow me to inspire hope and resilience, in the lives of young people through my testimony. I enjoy the flexibility of working from home and traveling to meet new educators while learning new perspectives in the field. As a visionary, natural problem-solver, and collaborator, I thrive off a mutual exchange of innovative ideas, to derive positive outcomes for children. Projects that interest me most involve program development, expansion, quality improvement, and pilot initiatives. I strongly believe that “We are brighter together” when approaching any obstacle. For this reason, I enjoy working with open-minded individuals who are creative, critical thinkers, and intentional about effectively educating children and youth. Despite my “serious” and “focused demeanor,” I am down-to-earth, compassionate, and goal driven. I am objective and prefer to consider all angles of a potential decision before making a final determination.
My passion for education stems from a difficult childhood, devoid of stability and familiar homeless nights, scouting the streets of the South Bronx, collecting cans and bottles for our next meal; parental drug addiction, arrests, and absenteeism; sibling parentification; domestic violence; and foster care. Thanks to Mrs. Greenblatt, my 5th-grade teacher who spoke life into my potential; Mr. Maisel (Reading Teacher), who made reading come alive for me; Mr. Fracarro, the principal who redirected my inner conflicts towards acts of service; Mr. Johnson, my middle school counselor; Ms. Michell Mathesius, my high school Dance Department Chair, who gifted me a couch for Christmas, after moving into my first room rental; a devoted uncle Dino; a military father who always made his presence known; my developed faith; a college education with understanding professors; and the helping hands of selfless, compassionate people, I encountered along the way, all contributed to the successful person I am today! Understanding the influential power of at least one adult, one caring school administrator, and one positive teacher, who saw in me, what my flustered mind could not… is the premise of my devotion to the field of education. I will forever do for our children, what others have done for me.
